Launch of the “Ancestral Landscape” project website

11/04/2025 - Launch of the “Ancestral Landscape” project website

Platform reveals the secrets of Alentejo’s megalithic heritage

The official website for the “Ancestral Landscape – Ceremonial Sites of the Guadiana Region” project is now open to the public. The new digital platform invites users to embark on a fascinating journey through the world of ceremonial enclosures and the rich megalithic heritage of the Alentejo, making a cultural legacy that is often invisible to the general public accessible.

With an immersive and educational approach, the website offers a wide range of content that brings the region’s ancient history to life. Among the main highlights are the Ceremonial Enclosures Route and the Reguengos de Monsaraz Megalithic Route, essential guides for anyone wishing to explore these unique monuments on the ground.

To enrich the experience, the project also offers a podcast that complements the routes, a documentary dedicated to the “Ceremonial Enclosures” and impressive videos featuring animated 3D reconstructions which recreate the environments and experiences at the Perdigões Archaeological Complex, one of the most important prehistoric sites on the Iberian Peninsula.
