New edition dedicated to Ditch 7 and the central area of the Perdigões Archaeological Complex

ERA Arqueologia has just published another volume in the Perdigões Monográfica series, dedicated to the study of Ditch 7 and the central area of this important archaeological complex. The work is now available as open access, reinforcing the commitment to sharing scientific knowledge.

The research now published reveals a highly complex space where, particularly in the mid-3rd millennium BC, funerary practices, intentional deposits, metallurgy, architecture and rituals intersect. More than just distinct functional areas, the centre of Perdigões stands out as a true assembly: a ceremonial, relational and symbolically central space within the prehistoric context of the Iberian Peninsula.

Through a multidisciplinary approach, this volume deepens our understanding of the social, cultural and symbolic dynamics that characterised the occupation of the site, contributing to our knowledge of megalithism and ditched enclosures from the Late Prehistoric period.

Archaeology, combined with the dissemination of its findings, is essential for safeguarding heritage and building a shared understanding of the past. Open access to this publication aims precisely to bring the academic community and the general public closer to the latest research developments.
