26/02/2026 - The Barroso Hillforts project website is now online

Digital platform showcases the region’s hillfort heritage and ongoing research

The official website of the Barroso Hillforts Project is now available to the public. This initiative focuses on studying, promoting, preserving, and enhancing the archaeological heritage of the hillfort tradition found in this region.

Developed to promote scientific knowledge and bring local communities and the general public closer to this unique historical legacy, the website brings together information on these archaeological sites, the research teams, the activities currently underway and the results already achieved.

This project is an initiative of ERA Arqueologia, in partnership with the municipalities of Boticas and Montalegre, and is co-funded by the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation through the Promove Programme.

Through this digital platform, the aim is to strengthen the commitment to archaeological research, the preservation of the region and the creation of a sustainable cultural and social impact in Barroso.
