14/07/2026 - Collaboration with “Monsaraz Open Museum” on guided tours of the region’s megalithic sites

ERA Arqueologia is partnering with the “Monsaraz Open Museum” initiative to organise a programme of guided tours of two of the most iconic megalithic monuments in the municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz. The tours, which are free to attend, will be led by archaeologist António Valera, director of ERA’s research project dedicated to the Perdigões Archaeological Complex, one of the most important prehistoric sites on the Iberian Peninsula.

The tours will take place on two consecutive days, both starting at 7.00 pm and lasting approximately 30 minutes:

15th – Cromeleque do Xerez
One of the most impressive megalithic sites in central Alentejo, the Cromeleque do Xerez stands out for its unique architecture and its spatial relationship with the surrounding landscape.

16th – Antas do Olival da Pega
This group of megalithic tombs, forming part of the Olival da Pega necropolis, constitutes one of the region’s most important burial sites.

This initiative (see the video below) aims to connect the public with local heritage, enhance archaeological knowledge, and promote scientific outreach within the community. Participation is free, and no prior registration is required. Visitors are encouraged to arrive at the designated location at the scheduled time.
