26/02/2021 - ERA archaeologists make another important discovery in Alentejo

In the immediate vicinity of the prehistoric ceremonial enclosure of Xancra (delimited by concentric ditches), another completely unknown and similar enclosure was identified by analysing aerial photography on Google Earth. The discovery launched new lines of research into this type of enclosure, which had great symbolism for those communities and which, we now know, populated the Alentejo landscape around 5,000 years ago.
